As natural hazards are omnipresent in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, the Région is acting on this issue as part of its competence in regional planning and biodiversity. It is in this spirit that the deployment of a major fire plan, the 'Guerre du feu', was included in the Plan climat régional 'Gardons une COP d’avance'. Since its creation in 2018, €35 million has been deployed by the Région to meet three major principles: Prevent, Fight, and Rebuild.

Of the 15 fires exceeding 5,000 hectares burned in France, half are in Var, the most forested department in France. No one can remain indifferent to such a finding. We said to ourselves that this land blessed by the gods had to be preserved and that the Région had the capacity to act.
To win this Guerre du Feu, it took aerial resources, a method, and men. Until now, we had a mobile pelicandrome that could refuel an aircraft from a truck tank with a single fuel line. It took 24 minutes to load two Dash.
The hoped-for goal was to fill two simultaneously in 6 minutes. During its implementation, notably during the last fire in Vidauban, the two Dash were loaded in 4 minutes 30. The time saved and the complementarity of aerial resources are the keys to an effective response in firefighting.
