How was the "Guerre du feu" plan born, along with the desire to install a pelicandrome at the Hyères naval air base? FDC. In the aftermath of the fire that devoured 2,000 hectares between Bormes and la Londe in 2017, along with President Renaud Muselier, we decided to launch an unprecedented initiative. Has the Région Sud deployed significant financial resources?
FDC. Yes, since 2018, we have allocated €35 million to it. This year, 7.2 million is dedicated to firefighting, with the support of European funds.
What is the method? FDC. Three pillars! Prevent, fight, and rebuild. Prevent, notably with 250 regional forest guards deployed this year in our forests, but also through assistance to communes for brush-clearing activities.
To rebuild, we have equipped ourselves with two unique tools in France. The first is the Respir fund. It supports the reforestation of affected areas in partnership with private partners.
The second is the climate change adaptation fund, dedicated to the consequences of global warming and therefore post-crisis, aimed at territories, businesses, the agricultural sector...
As part of our "fight" pillar, the challenge was clear: to provide the Région with a permanent pelicandrome staffed during the summer period. We created it at the Hyères naval base. Did you personally fight to defend this Hyères pelicandrome?
FDC. Yes. It took 6 years of determination and commitment to bring this project, entrusted to me by Renaud Muselier, to fruition.
It took the consistency of the SDIS and the goodwill of the Ban teams. I would like to thank the State and Prefect Mahé for his support.
What is this going to change? FDC. The evolution is dazzling! Concretely, we are changing our model! We are equipping ourselves, at the regional level, with a modern and efficient filling system that takes into account the evolution of the Sécurité civile fleet toward large aircraft like the Dash.

THE FINANCING PLAN The cost of the work and studies amounts to €4,916,214. The amount of financial aid voted by the Région: €2,667,350, representing 54.26% of the amount, broken down as follows: • €179,350: preliminary study.
• €2,100,000: aid for project management and works. • €388,000: additional aid for project management and works. The Conseil départemental finances €1,162,864, representing 23.65%.
The State finances €1,086,000 via the green fund, representing 22.09%.
