Les Oursinières, an inclusive spot!
Committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities, the Ville du Pradet, through Eric Galiano, is making Les Oursinières beach fully accessible.
The permanent availability (at the lifeguard station) of a wheelchair for people with disabilities offers this public easier access to the beach. To date, the beach is equipped with a mat that allows the wheelchair to be launched into the water, installed near a PRM parking space with direct access to public toilets. Eric Galiano explains: "We had a Hyppocampe-type wheelchair on Les Oursinières beach which had a dual function thanks to its all-terrain features. It was used to move on the sand and was moved to Sandro's ULIS class during school outings. With the purchase of the new water-launching wheelchair, the Hyppocampe wheelchair is permanently available for this class. With the purchase of a Waterwheels wheelchair, whose function is water launching for people with reduced mobility, our goal is to make this beach an inclusive beach. Indeed, a car park adjacent to the beach, with two PRM parking spaces and public toilets nearby, makes this location an ideal spot for people with disabilities. Thus, the beach is equipped with a mat, purchased two years ago, which allows the wheelchair to be launched into the water and which is installed near a PRM parking space with direct access to public toilets. In the future, following studies, we hope to install a second mat closer to the lifeguard station and the second PRM parking space. Our goal is to make this spot as inclusive as possible in order to eventually obtain the handiplage label."
