This meeting marked the announcement of an innovative partnership between these two institutions. “Since 2023, the outreach team of the musée du Niel has been organizing visits for groups of patients, allowing them to discover the current exhibitions. These visits, which are highly appreciated, have been renewed this year and take place every two weeks. New initiatives are being studied to offer patients additional cultural activities, planned for the museum's closure in mid-October, in order to facilitate the sharing of resources outside its walls,” explains the museum's management. On this occasion, Jean-Noël Drouin, founder of the museum, explained: “The museum's mission is to gather, protect, and exhibit works by 20th-century European painters. But today, a museum must be a living space, both within its walls and beyond. Our territory brings together dynamic actors who are passionate about culture and nature. This unique network cultivates a true art of living between art and the sea, which we are happy to share with as many people as possible. This partnership with the teams of the hôpital Renée Sabran is a significant step forward in this direction.” Indeed, this initiative is in line with the museum's founding project. From the moment it opened, this art venue committed to participating in the life of the presqu’île de Giens, the commune of Hyères, and the department of Var. A member of the Plein Sud network, the museum became an official partner of the musée La Banque in 2023 and integrated into the Artistic and Cultural Education plan of the commune of Hyères. In this context, the museum supports preschool, primary, middle, and high school students in Hyères throughout the year. In 2024, music found its place at the museum with concerts in collaboration with the Opéra de Toulon and the théâtre Châteauvallon. The museum is also committed to the environment. Since January 2024, it has been part of the Esprit Parc national de Port-Cros network. Its garden, which has become an additional asset to the exhibitions, hosts exchanges with local actors such as the Salins de Pesquiers and the Fort du Pradeau.
