After working as an assistant for a year, he was hired on a permanent contract by ESCOTA. "Originally, I have an engineering degree in materials and mechanics after training at the SEA TECH school at the Université de Toulon. In fact, I am the local of the stage for VINCI Autoroutes! Indeed, many of those involved come from other regions." Before securing a professionalisation contract at the start of 2023, Guillaume Roux had accumulated several professional experiences, notably in shipyards and mechanical workshops. This background allowed him to land the position of operations manager. "An operations manager is there to manage the work, which I did in particular for the renovation of the bridges and the tunnel. I manage everything related to monitoring operations in connection with networks. I work on all parts of the project just like everyone else, each in their own specialty, since there are five operations managers on this widening project," the young man explains. He continues: "Each operations manager works in a very specific area: environment, signage systems, concrete blocks, road closures, and restoration of traffic and local roads. We are somewhat like facilitators between the different companies. Our role is important because our decisions have an impact on the local economy, especially when we close a street in La Valette, Toulon, or La Garde." What the young man particularly likes is the diversity of his job: "There is a lot of back-and-forth on the construction site. I like this job. In the end, I fell into it somewhat by chance, and I love what I do. And, a significant added bonus is that I work where I have always lived. But when the widening project is finished, I won't rule out looking elsewhere and seeing the country thanks to VINCI Autoroutes!"
