IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE

The departmental project "Var 1944 – Les Routes varoises de la Liberté", initiated and officially launched on June 9, 2023, by the president of the Conseil départemental, is a large-scale program that pays tribute to the soldiers, women, and men who fought for freedom. Part of a cross-cutting approach within the local authority, this project unites the municipalities concerned as well as the very numerous association partners who contribute to its implementation and success. In order to salute the involvement of the City of La Garde in the work of remembrance, the president of the Département solemnly presented a commemorative enamel plaque "Var 1944", embodying its commitment, to Hélène Arnaud-Bill, mayor of La Garde. During this event, the team from the Département presented the new virtual application "Var 1944", created by the Département, to experience an immersive journey dedicated to the Débarquement de Provence. This application, launched in mid-August, allows users to experience key moments of the Second World War through 80 testimonies or fictional portraits.
