August 22 marked the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the town
Indeed, it has already been 80 years since Le Pradet regained its freedom and its inhabitants drove out the oppressive forces occupying the territory.
This day of August 22 remains forever engraved in memories as the symbol of resilience, courage and determination. “On this day of celebration, we must take the time to reflect on the profound meaning of freedom. Freedom is precious, but it also demands responsibility. It is our duty to protect and preserve this freedom for generations to come,” recalled Hervé Stassinos, before a large assembly gathered around the war memorial. During this day, la Ville offered a rich programme. From 9:30 am, the mayor inaugurated the “Diego Brosset” nameplate on the rond-point des Roches bleues. An event followed by a parade of vintage vehicles to parc Cravéro. The ceremony continued with the inauguration of the Chemin du Souvenir, located behind the galerie Cravéro. At noon, a Liberation lunch, in the shade of the plane trees in the main alley, brought together several dozen people on the initiative of the Comité des fêtes. And, a major Liberation evening brought, late into the night, the parc Cravéro to life in a guinguette atmosphere. Finally, at the Espace des Arts, the public could attend a free screening (offered by la Ville) of a documentary on the Provence landings: “Provence Août 1944, l’autre débarquement”.
