Nicolas Moulin: "ACSPMG tirelessly pursues its work of remembrance"

From the preparation for the D-Day Landings to the resistance in Var, including the actions carried out by the liberators of 1944, the exhibitions presented in the department highlighted these acts of heroic resistance.

ENTHUSIASTS IN THE SERVICE OF HISTORY

This work has made it possible to discover gems linked to the Liberation period. From Collobrières to Aups, via La Roquebrussanne, Pierrefeu-du-Var and, of course, La Valette-du-Var, visitors discovered the history of their municipality at the time of the Liberation, thanks to conferences, film screenings, and documentaries. While Var, rich in history, is home to major memorial sites, it also has the unique distinction of having many enthusiasts dedicated to history. "United by this passion, these guardians of history were present at the various commemorations. With the same energy and motivation, from historical reenactment to temporary traveling exhibitions, our volunteers were present at this unmissable event!" recalls Nicolas Moulin, president of the ACSPMG (Histoire et patrimoine de la Gendarmerie). The president adds: "The exhibitions required long months of preparation and organization. They demanded availability to present high-quality work, the fruit of teamwork that is particularly close to my heart. Together, we experienced a beautiful memorial adventure. The proof is the awarding of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation label."

RAISING AWARENESS AMONG THE YOUTH

Nicolas Moulin continues: "ACSPMG and its partners attach great importance to raising awareness among the youth about the duty of remembrance and history. This knowledge of a past, which is ultimately not so distant, must be presented to the youngest with naturally adapted language, and it must help them better understand the present and the future. That is why, with our cultural and patriotic partners such as the Souvenir Français de Pierrefeu-du-Var et de Hyères, we pay particular attention to numerous projects with schools." On the ground, many actions have been carried out in connection with the municipalities (Pierrefeudu-Var, La Farlède, La Valette-du-Var), where memorial outings have been scheduled. Furthermore, other projects are in preparation. "At a time when the witnesses of this past are tending to disappear, we must continue the duty of remembrance and support the associations working in this field. They are present in every municipality, as shown by the many flags displayed during patriotic and other commemorations. Together, let us work so that the flame of remembrance does not go out," concludes Nicolas Moulin with his usual enthusiasm.
