Works to protect the communal natural heritage

After a first phase of works, carried out between 2021 and 2022, and a second phase lasting 7 months between 2023 and 2024, Jean-Louis Masson, first deputy mayor of La Garde and president of the Département, accompanied by Lucien Giucicelli, Secretary General of the préfecture, proceeded to the official acceptance of these extraordinary works on September 9. Securing and environmental protection The works were carried out to secure property and people located on the cliff crest. Six properties affected by the risk of sudden rockfalls benefited from reinforcement works along the Massacan cliff. In the end, 12 properties on the ridge side are now secured. "The works consisted in building a soil-nailed wall with colored shotcrete according to the guidelines of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France. Environmental measures were put in place throughout the construction site to limit impacts on fauna and flora, in accordance with prefectural authorizations," specified Jean-Louis Masson. Due to the difficulty of access, this extraordinary project, 350 meters long and 35 to 50 meters high, mobilized significant resources around the technical services of the Ville (helicopter, crane, rope access technicians, concrete recuperators for environmental protection...).

The works amount to €2,463,801 including tax, funded by: Ville de La Garde (84%), Métropole TPM (4.09%), Département du Var (8.18%), Région Sud (3.73%).
