In 2021, VAE Lucas returns to international relations

After initial officer and pilot training, he qualified as a pilot in 1993. In the first part of his career, he was assigned to the Atlantique 2 maritime patrol aircraft flotillas of the Marine nationale in Lann-Bihoué and Nîmes-Garons. He also served at the École navale as an instructor and head of leadership training, and on board the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle as head of the "flight" department.

ÉCOLE DE GUERRE

These first years of service saw him participate, directly or in support, in numerous operations, from the conflict in ex-Yougoslavie (Sharp Guard) to Afghanistan (Agapanthe 2004 - Enduring Freedom) and Djibouti (Enduring Freedom). They concluded between 2004 and 2006 with the command of the maritime patrol flotilla 23F. After the École de guerre (14th class, which he chaired), he served as officer personnel manager for naval aviation at the military personnel directorate of the Marine. In 2009, he returned to sea assignments, taking the post of second-in-command of the anti-submarine frigate Latouche-Tréville, then that of commander of the anti-submarine frigate Georges Leygues. He took part in the Jeanne d'Arc 2011 officer cadet training mission and the Atalante mission (fight against piracy in the océan Indien). His ship was then integrated into Operation Harmattan (Libye) and took part in several offensive actions, some of which drew fire from enemy weapons. He then took command of the Lann-Bihoué naval aviation base, which has 2,000 personnel, for 3 years (2011-2014). At its head, he ensured and supported the deployment of Atlantique 2 crews engaged in Operation Serval in Mali.

INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

In 2014, he was an auditor of the 64th session of the Centre des hautes études militaires and the 67th session of the Institut des hautes études de défense nationale. From 2015, he served as deputy head of the international relations unit of the military cabinet of the Minister of Defence, before joining the Chief of Staff of the Marine as Chief of Staff. Promoted to rear admiral in 2018, he took command of the Force maritime des fusiliers marins et commandos (ALFUSCO), which brings together all naval special forces and defense and security units, and commanded the Marine in Lorient. In 2021, he returned to international relations, serving as the coordination authority for international relations of the Marine nationale (ALRI), before being appointed deputy director general for international relations and strategy on September 1, 2022, with elevation to the rank of vice-amiral d'escadre.
