The Municipality has chosen to implement long-term actions by educating younger generations on the fight against food waste. Thus, children benefit from traditional cuisine, prepared on-site by talented chefs. By having a central kitchen, the City contributes to the fight against food waste. Indeed, staff members design menus according to the seasons and children's tastes, ensuring their nutritional balance. But that is not all! Small or large appetites upon request, and rules of conduct encouraging children to take only what they will eat, these actions yield results. In 2023, food waste represented 30 grams per meal (the national average in 2020 was 110 grams (source ADEME). Hard to do better!

And it does not stop there! In the school cafeterias, children sort their waste. The result: there is very little of it, and it allowed the association "Les Alchimistes", to which the municipality entrusted its recovery, to produce 489 kg of compost in 2023. The latest action soon to be implemented: the end of paper napkins in preschool cafeterias. In partnership with teachers and parents, the municipality will equip the cafeterias with furniture so that children can store their cloth napkins. This means nearly 40,000 paper napkins per year will no longer be used. Well done!
