The City is resolutely committing to the energy transition

Jean-Louis Département, welcomed this operation: "The City, with the financial support of the Département, is one of the first cities in Var to commit to a collective self-consumption process. This process resulted in the installation of photovoltaic power plants on the roofs of three municipal buildings: the Centre Technique Municipal (CTM), the EHPAD Le Mas des Senès, and the Éliette Santoni school. An innovative way for the municipality to take the turn of ecological transition and reduce its electricity consumption."

COLLECTIVE SELF-CONSUMPTION

In practical terms, collective self-consumption is a rapidly growing new practice. It allows renewable energy production to be shared locally among several buildings. Masson, president of the As a true expert, Jean-Louis Masson decrypted the operation of the system: "The electricity produced will, initially, be self-consumed by the producing building, and then will be absorbed via the distribution network in collective self-consumption. Using its network infrastructure and smart meters, Enedis connects the various sites, thus enabling flow management." For her part, Sophie Ourdouillié specified: "The electricity produced on the roof of the Éliette Santoni school partially covers the consumption of 8 municipal sites: the parking Gérard Philippe, the médiathèque Louis Aragon, the municipal swimming pool, the gymnase Troin, the Hôtel de Ville, the centre aéré Henri Wallon, the école élémentaire Jean Aicard, and the EHPAD Le Mas des Senès." Since July 1st, the installation has produced 55 megawatt-hours, which were consumed by the municipality's buildings participating in the operation, corresponding to the daily consumption of 3,500 households. The City has also completed a second self-consumption loop, with the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roofs of the Centre Technique Municipal, which thus has a capacity of 90 KVA. This installation has produced 61 megawatt-hours since it was commissioned on June 1st. Finally, for Franck Chouquet: "With collective self-consumption, the City is concretely committing to the ecological transition, promoting the energy independence of the municipality, and saving money on electricity bills." In short, a winning operation on all fronts, and particularly for the municipal finances of the commune.
