With this program, the Ville wants to offer children an educational environment at the cutting edge of technology and sustainable development. “With 1,894 m2 spread over two levels, with a 1,873 m2 courtyard on the ground floor and 614 m2 on the first floor, the new François-Villon nursery school accommodates nearly 240 students divided into 10 classes ranging from nursery to kindergarten, as well as an Accueil de Loisirs Sans Hébergement (ALSH). The latter, located on the first floor of the building, will host 315 children aged 3 to 10 on Wednesdays and during school holidays,” explained the mayor.

In addition, a large space will allow for all kinds of activities, but also to separate the nursery school students in the event of unfavorable health periods.

CHARACTERISTICS Like the Jules Ferry and François Fabié elementary schools, delivered in February 2023, the new François Villon nursery school features several notable innovations.

First of all, innovative facilities for optimal comfort. Indeed, in order to meet the expectations expressed by the Valettois, the Ville paid particular attention to the heating circuits, ventilation and the colors used. Among the innovations implemented, an adiabatic cooling system particularly stands out.

Its principle consists of a natural and economical method to cool the air using water evaporation. This technology, considered an innovation under the BDM (Bâtiment Durable Méditerranéen) rating, offers numerous advantages. This installation ensures pleasant temperatures, adapted to the needs of the children for ideal comfort.

“It consumes much less electricity than traditional air conditioning for optimal energy efficiency. Finally, it is recognized by the BDM certification, a guarantee of quality, sustainability and innovation,” added the first magistrate.

EDUCATIONAL PROJECT Furthermore, the school complex has an educational vegetable garden, shared with the Jules-Ferry and François Fabié elementary schools and integrated into the school curriculum as part of the teachers' educational project to raise students' awareness of ecology and biodiversity.

“This garden benefits from automatic watering and also allows children from the accueil de loisirs sans hébergement (ALSH) to benefit from it during the holidays. The school also has a green space, accessible from the playground, while a square is currently being built. It will welcome children and teachers for outdoor activities (storytelling, games, etc.)

Finally, the school has a play area, equipped with modern play facilities and secure spaces,” specified Thierry Albertini.

The cost of this second phase of work amounts to €6,000,000 HT funded by the Région Sud (Dispositif CRET2), the State (Dispositif DSIL), the Département du Var, the Métropole Toulon Provence Méditerranée and the Ville de La Valette-du-Var. • Photos PRESSE AGENCE.
