Nearly 10,000 Toulon students eat in the canteen

The City offers them high-quality traditional cuisine, ahead of the provisions of the EGALIM law, with organic and vegetarian menus served once a week. For 4 years, the Ville de Toulon has been offering school directors the opportunity to participate in the Tatouille challenge. It allows schoolchildren to acquire good habits, first by working on dietary balance and then by developing their own menu composed of proteins, starches, vegetables, a dairy product, and fruit, taking into account the seasonality of food. The menus selected by the Commission des Menus are served in the 73 school restaurants. For this new edition, 500 schoolchildren enrolled in 12 different schools took part in the adventure, including a 6ème class from the collège Voltaire. Sharing the same cafeteria, the representatives of the two structures decided that the competition would be the subject of one of the workshops as part of the CM2-6ème transition day on February 8, on the theme of food. This year, the école élémentaire Saint-Jean - Collège Voltaire tandem was brilliantly distinguished for its menu. Indeed, the young participants are rewarded for their investment, both individually and collectively. Thus, each class receives a cash grant to purchase children's books. Among these rewards is the album 'Découvrez Toulon entre mer et montagne', created by Yvan Tesi for the Ville de Toulon. With its colorful and cheerful illustrations as well as its stickers to paste, this book allows Toulon students to learn more about their city. Before the summer, the prize-giving ceremony for the Challenge Tatouille to CM2 students of the école Saint-Jean and 6ème students of the collège Voltaire took part in the presence of Josée Massi, mayor of Toulon, Patrice Cazaux, deputy in charge of school catering, Anaïs Dir, municipal councilor delegated to school catering, and Yvan Tesi, graphic designer and creator of the album 'Découvrez Toulon entre mer et montagne'.
