A major urban project for greater attractiveness
On October 4, elected officials launched the Cœur de Ville project's first phase with work starting on the former Accusano stadium.
The former sports facility will become a major green space, creating a connection with the Espace Nature Départemental du Plan. Jean-Louis Masson, president of the Département and 1st deputy mayor of La Garde, and Franck Chouquet, deputy mayor for urban planning, welcomed this project "which will make La Garde an even greener city"! REQUALIFICATION The Commune and the Métropole TPM have initiated a major urban project for the coming years to redevelop the iconic spaces of the city center, aiming to boost its attractiveness and give it a new developmental momentum, a strengthened identity, and a new economic, heritage, cultural, and social dynamism.
This is a program that includes the requalification of its major public spaces, including the Accusano stadium sector into a large urban park of nearly 1.5 hectares at the entrance to the city, and in a second phase, the requalification of the place de la République (2027 to 2029).
LARGE URBAN PARK The two local authorities have entrusted la SAGEP, through a development concession, with the Maîtrise d'Ouvrage for the implementation of this project aimed at improving the quality of life and the image of the heart of the city as a whole. The first phase therefore consists of a large urban park of 1.5 hectares.
On the agenda, the creation of a landscaped park acting as an island of coolness, biodiversity, and leisure activity, a calm and greened pedestrian network, and a multi-story car park (216 spaces) accompanied by nearly 600 m² of commercial premises. The park will be delivered in late 2025, with final plantings in early 2026. PLEASE NOTE...
The project in figures: Operation budget: €28.2M over a 7-year period (2023 – 2030), including €25.5M in public contributions divided between TPM (€16.5M), the Ville (€9M), and €2.7M from the sale of commercial premises in the future multi-story car park.
Funding obtained by the Ville: Europe via the FEDER ITI for the requalification of the premises of the Programme de Réussite Éducative (nearly €580,000), Département du Var via aid to municipalities for the requalification of the premises of the Programme de Réussite Éducative (€150,000). Funding currently being requested: État via the Fonds Vert for the creation of the urban park, Région Sud via "Nos territoires d'Abord" for the creation of the urban park, Département du Var via the "Grands projets" axis for all of the Commune's works, Agence de l'Eau for the creation of the urban park.
