A Cultural Season Under the Banner of Laughter and Poetry

On the program of this cultural venue, around twenty dates blending theater, storytelling, music, humor, and young audiences, with a focus on school audiences, representing 11 performances throughout the year. With a clearly stated objective of rediscovering the carefree spirit of our childhood.

UNDER THE BANNER OF LAUGHTER AND POETRY

Thierry Albertini, mayor of La Valette-du-Var, welcomed the success of the theater last season: “It showed how much culture satisfies a deep need to share, with family and friends, moments of strong emotion. The audience was there! Let us take this opportunity to thank them warmly!” As a reminder, last year the Valettois theater hosted 19 shows, 2 festivals, and 11 performances for 52 classes and 1,283 Valettois students, resulting in 3,724 admissions (+65%) and 248 subscribers (+15%). During the presentation of the 2024–2025 season, the mayor confirmed the City's ambition: “The new 2024–2025 season is placed under the banner of laughter, poetry, and virtuosity, with a performer's mood here, a little touch of burlesque there, in the spirit of our elders Jacques Tati and Pierre Étaix. Tender and wacky, timeless characters, funny and quirky stories, serious subjects told with humor, will lead us to rediscover the carefree spirit of our childhood,” added the Vice-President of the Département. “Music will not be left out, as exceptional concerts dot the program, while our three must-see events—the Festival de contes, the Festival de Théâtre amateur, and the Festival International des Musiques d’Écran (FIMÉ)—return for our greatest pleasure. When you love something, you don't count! So this year, we are expecting even more of you,” promised the Vice-President of the Métropole! Taking place across six municipalities of Provence-Méditerranée, the Festival International des Musiques d’Écran offers the chance to (re)discover yesterday's films set to today's music, performed live at the foot of the screen. •

As part of the 18th edition of the Festival International des Musiques d’Écran from November 2 to 10. A film by Ernst Lubitsch. 1926 – United States – Black and White. Métropole Toulon - With Monte Blue, Patsy Ruth Miller, Lilian Taschman. In their apartment in the fashionable districts of Paris, Maurice and his wife Georgette rehearse a sketch inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. From her window opposite, Suzanne Giraud believes she is witnessing a genuine scene of violence between the sheikh and his partner. Alerted by Suzanne, Paul Giraud, her husband, loses his temper and crosses the street to teach the cad a lesson. Ready for a fight, he then recognizes Georgette, who turns out to be one of his former mistresses. So This is Paris is considered the funniest of the silent films shot in Hollywood by Ernst Lubitsch. Mauro Coceano (accordion and percussion) and Bastien Ferrez (baritone / soprano saxophone). Born in Italy, Mauro Coceano is a pianist. He is credited with some thirty plays and nearly fifty cine-concerts. Mauro continues his work with Bastien Ferrez on films from Lubitsch's American period with So This is Paris (1926). The duo's musical accompaniment is a subtle blend of written parts and structured improvisations.
