Organizing such an event is huge.

Between 200 and 250 people dropped off around 4,000 items of clothing, accessories, shoes, etc.

CONTRIBUTION FROM THE TOWN HALL

At the beginning, this event was called "Dépôt-Vente".

Alain Cara, a Rotarian, explains: "It was parents of pupils from the école Mansard in Hyères who launched the idea. They were looking for a room to host this event. The Rotary Club made a room available to them in a condominium, avenue des Îles d’Or. Later, we took over the idea."

This clothing sale grew over the years and was hosted at the Forum du Casino under the municipality of M. Ritondale.

Alain Cara adds: "Over the years, the mayors have recognized the social character of the association. Elected officials contribute enormously to our actions by lending us the premises, furniture, lighting, etc."

Geneviève Gualtieri, a member of the Rotary Club de Hyères, continues: "Over the years, we realized that people wanted quality clothes and to treat themselves to expensive clothes but at very attractive prices. Still in the same spirit and to keep the original idea alive, Chiner Chic was created in 2008."

"The range of clothing presented is wider, of better quality, and makes it possible to offer shoes, accessories, jewelry, hats, bags, and scarves while remaining at reasonable prices. We sometimes have Haute-Couture brands," details Geneviève Gualtieri.

She explains: "The principle is as follows: the depositor makes an item available for sale during the days of the Chiner Chic event. When the sale is completed, two-thirds of the amount collected goes to the depositor and one-third is retained by the Rotary Club in order to donate it to charity. Each year, the philanthropic destination changes."

A THIRD OF THE FUNDS FOR THE HÔPITAL SAN SALVADOUR

Thus, the members of the Rotary Club were touched by the healthcare staff of the Hôpital San Salvadour who care for children in the day hospital. Geneviève Gualtieri confides with emotion: "I was particularly moved by the department. We went there to assess their needs. We saw that small, inexpensive things were missing, but they can contribute to the child's well-being. This could be equipment such as colorful sensory toys, a food press to puree food, and so many other things..."

Recently, the Rotary Club presented the funds collected to the Hôpital San Salvadour. An event that we will report on in a future edition.
