End of training for the Cadets de la gendarmerie du Var

In each region, there is an association of Cadets, with representatives for each affiliated department. In Var, the association, which includes citizen reservists of the gendarmerie and volunteers, worked in synergy with Lieutenant-Colonel Frédéric Dauboeuf, coordinator in charge of the SNU and his supervisors, for the success of this 4th edition. It took place partly within the gendarmerie mobile of Hyères as well as in several municipalities of Var.

INTENSE IMMERSION

During the Toussaint holidays, meaning for 15 days, the Cadets followed the busy program of this second phase of the SNU (presentation of the gendarmerie, close order drill, knowledge and discovery of the military aspect of the jobs). Thus, they grasped the diversity of the gendarmerie's professions thanks to the presentation of the services (Maison de protection des familles (MPF), équipe cynophile (GIC), section aérienne (SAG), section opérationnelle de lutte contre les cybermenaces (SOLC), gendarmerie départementale and mobile. The immersion also took concrete form through awareness-raising actions in the field. The Cadets reached out to the population, applying 'reaching out', a major concept of the gendarmerie. "The youth of the SNU raised awareness among the inhabitants of Var about internet scams, notably at the markets of La Valettedu-Var and Saint-Tropez, took part in a road safety prevention campaign at the Vidauban highway rest area, and in an environmental action with a hike between Bormes-les-Mimosas and La Londe-les-Maures aimed at cleaning up the coastline," says Nicolas Moulin, assistant to the head of the Service Réserve Jeunesse du Var (gendarmerie). He adds: "In partnership with the Souvenir Français, the Cadets were present at Toussaint ceremonies (Hyères and Pierrefeudu-Var). Some even carried the flags of the patriotic and memorial associations of the Souvenir Français and Histoire et Patrimoine de la Gendarmerie (ACSPMG)". Finally, the end-of-mission ceremony (see page 14 in the La Valette-du-Var section) took place in the presence of many elected officials (Toulon, Hyères, and La Valette-du-Var), the representative of the gendarmerie mobile of Hyères, the president of the association des Cadets de la gendarmerie, Vincent Dujarric, the new general delegate of the Souvenir Français du Var, and Nicolas Moulin, president of Histoire et Gendarmerie.
