“La Londe-les-Vins, to paint without moderation”!

This year, the cultural department cast a very wide net by selecting artists who, while living in La Londe, also came from Méditerranée Porte des Maures and from all over the Var. “This artistic gathering was a success for the town, which I now call La Londe-les- Peintres,” confides, with a broad smile, our friend Robert Semelle. He adds: “This year, there were no imposed themes or formats. Everyone was free to bring their canvases and express themselves without hindrance. I noted a real step up in the quality of the exhibited works.” Visibly, this passion was shared by the public since the salle Yann-Piat welcomed more than 1,500 visitors during the three days of the Salon d'Automne! For the painter: “Art serves to build connections between human beings.” A successful objective. And, a sign of the times, it was three women, who made up the majority in the aisles, who were rewarded for their works by winning the three Prix du Jury and the three Prix du Public. “A verdict without comment that commands respect,” notes Robert Semelle. For his part, the former postman continues to paint the history of La Londe-les-Maures, like an artistic chronicler. “After having painted the wine estates of the municipality, I am tackling the Cave des Vignerons Londais, a building with a long and beautiful history. Its setting is particularly bucolic, and that is what prompted me to paint it,” he says. He continues: “Which makes me say that in La Londeles-Vins, we paint without moderation”! By creating this new canvas, the artist wants to pay tribute to all those who work the land and produce the wonderful and delicious nectar. “This work is part of a project that, for now, cannot be revealed. Wait for my next exhibition at the Galerie Horace- Vernet to find out more,” announces, a bit mysteriously, our postman Semelle.
