Closing ceremony for the Préparation Militaire Gendarmerie

Once they have successfully completed the training course and signed their commitment contract, reservists are ready to reinforce active units within the normal framework of services, during specific operations or events. It also reinforces command structures (Staff, associated or specialized services).

The operational reserve of the Gendarmerie is one of the components of the Garde nationale, alongside the Police nationale, the Armée de terre, the Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace, and the Marine nationale.

15-DAY IMMERSION

During the Toussaint holidays, after a two-week intensive training course at the institution Saint-Joseph de la Navarre (La Crau), which has hosted PMG training courses for the southern region since 2023, Gendarmerie reservists from the latest class of 2024 received their insignia during a military ceremony, presided over by General of Brigade Jacquet Guillaume, deputy commander of the Gendarmerie region for the Provence-Alpes-Côte zone de défense et de sécurité Sud. At the end of a military parade, led by the class valedictorian who is assigned to the Var reserve, the trainees, their families, supervisors, and guests gathered in the gardens of the institution. With emotion and pride, they listened to General Guillaume Jacquet, who highlighted the commitment of these young people who will now give their time to serve the nation in everyday security.

OPERATIONAL RESERVE

In Var, the service Réserve Jeunesse (SRJ) is commanded by Major Ben Hamouda Abdelsalam and has around 700 reservists. Supported by the reserve advisor and administrative and management staff, the SRJ, better known as the operational reserve, has as its main mission the reinforcement of the territorial units of Var. The personnel who make up d'Azur, the reserve intervene in various missions and during specific events. As Adjutant Nicolas Moulin, deputy head of department, points out: "After an intensive 15-day training course, which allowed them to acquire the basic knowledge and skills to serve alongside active gendarmes, the 26 new personnel are joining the operational reserve of Var. Their commitment will take concrete shape with their participation in public safety missions and against road insecurity alongside active military personnel." Nicolas Moulin concludes: "A new step awaits our reservists, that of continuous training by instructors which will allow them to obtain the qualification of agent de police judiciaire adjoint then the taking of the oath before the court."
