Var, land of innovation
On October 28, the Département launched the first Prix de l’Innovation et de la Recherche du Var, an initiative reflecting its commitment.
It aims to encourage the development of innovative projects in the fields of technological, social, or environmental innovation, such as the development of new products or services specific to the community, digital solutions, AI serving the population of Var, home automation, etc., environmental preservation, promotion of sustainable development, the fight against climate change, etc., social well-being, social inclusion, solidarity, the development of the Silver economy, etc.
WHO CAN APPLY? Students (provided they can prove their student status for the 2024-2025 academic year), local authorities, social and solidarity economy actors, associations, researchers, research-professors, doctoral students, temporary and contract staff in a research laboratory, and private and public research laboratories. A project can fall under several fields.
Simply fill out an application form and check the corresponding boxes. Applications will be evaluated according to various criteria: the originality and creativity of the project; the innovative approach, local impact, and relevance; the potential impact of the project on the economic, social, or environmental development of Var and its inhabitants, the quality of research; methodological rigor, data quality, and relevance of research results, transposability: the feasibility of transferring research results into practical applications, and the realism of the schedule, project viability, and proposed objectives. TO BE PROVIDED One application file per proposed innovation, downloadable on the var.
fr website. An animated video or PowerPoint (2-4 min, in MP4, suitable for presentation at the award ceremony), a photo or logo representing your initiative (usable for the award ceremony), and supporting documents completing the presentation of your candidate project. Any supporting document is accepted (photos, videos, reports, prototypes, charts, etc.). The awards are presented in 5 main categories: • Grand Prix for Technological Innovation • Grand Prix for Environmental Innovation • Grand Prix for Social Innovation • Thematic Prize for Female/Male Equality • The Jury's Favorite. The jury, composed of: • 4 departmental councillors, including Jean-Louis Masson, President of the Conseil départemental, • 2 university representatives, • 2 members of the departmental administration, • 3 personalities from Var identified in the technological, environmental, and social fields, designated by the president of the Conseil départemental, will meet in early 2025 to deliberate.
SCHEDULE December 31, 2024: deadline for submitting applications. January - February 2025: jury deliberations. Spring 2025: announcement of results and award ceremony.
