Getting involved in an elected mandate while still a child is an unusual experience. This is what the newly elected members of the CME felt during their installation. Thus, the CM1 pupils from the Charles Sandro, Marcel Pagnol, Sainte-Bernadette schools and the IME Bel Estello voted to elect their representatives for two years. On November 6, it was the big day with the official installation of the new elected officials, a sequence symbolized by the presentation of the tricolor sashes. During this ceremony, many elected officials were present, including Hervé Stassinos, the mayor, and Stéphanie Ascione, municipal councillor in charge of the Conseil Municipal des Enfants. During its mandate, the CME participates in the highlights of the municipality, represents the youth during patriotic ceremonies, takes part in inaugurations, etc. Furthermore, the elected representatives sit once a month in place of their elders from the Conseil municipal and discover how the institutions of the Republic and democratic life function, learning to work in groups, to listen to each other, and to argue their points. Because it is not only adults who can give their opinion, and because children also have very good ideas, the members of the CME are led to reflect on many subjects concerning the daily lives of residents, including waste sorting, environmental protection, helping people with disabilities, and the fight against school violence.
