Max Bauer: "A wind of revolt blows in our countryside!"

Can we rejoice at the end of 2024 and hope for a new year 2025 filled with health, success, joy, and happiness with family and friends?

In this season of wishes, my thoughts go to all those who suffer, both physically and morally. More particularly for all the farmers who are going through difficulties on their farms and those who leave, unfortunately too early, in the exercise of their profession.

The wind of revolt is blowing in our countryside. How many farmers must bite the dust, crushed by the combined weight of controls, constraints, and taxes? Fearing they will have to join the army of the beggars of yesteryear, farmers are breaking down for lack of hope.

In the face of accumulating difficulties, the trumpeted answers offer only uncertainties. Today, our agriculture is dying in anger, suffering, and despair without any response from our politicians.

We are fed up with European technocrats and French bureaucrats. We want an end to administrative overregulation, a complete overhaul of all standards, so that we can work peacefully.

Stop! To the brutality of radical environmentalists who must neither muzzle us nor make us back down.

Let us not let a minority decide for us and dictate their thoughts to us! Because we can reconcile ecology and agriculture. Farmers hold in their hands the future of food as well as the maintenance and enhancement of our natural spaces.

I am angry and disillusioned to see that agriculture is only perceived through the environmental prism.

Even though the obstacles are numerous, I believe in the future of our French agriculture and that of our department of Var. That is why I am standing, along with my running mates, for election to the Chambre d'Agriculture du Var.

To finally have a local Chambre d'Agriculture at the service of farmers, entitled "100 % Agriculteurs, unis, défendons notre avenir"! In January 2025, Varois farmers, the cards are in your hands to make things change!

So it is up to you to decide! At a time when we are voting in professional elections so that our situation changes, let us think about what we want to leave to our children.

Let us give them the desire to make our agricultural professions endure in a world where men and women believe in their future. Best wishes for 2025!

Max Bauer, president of the Coordination Rurale du Var and of PACA.
