On this occasion, families of the lost sailors of the sky, active-duty sailors, patriotic associations, and civil and military authorities gathered during a military ceremony in tribute to the lost sailors of the Aéronautique navale at the site of the Notre Dame de Consolation church in Hyères, presided over by Vice-Admiral Serge Bordarier, commander of the naval aviation force (ALAVIA). As is the case every year, this ceremony paid tribute to the sailors of the sky who died in combat or on commanded air services from 1910 to the present day. The ceremony concluded with the laying of wreaths in front of the Costebelle monument, in the presence of Stéphane Rambaud, deputy for the 3rd constituency of the Var, Jean-Pierre Giran, mayor of Hyères and president of the Métropole TPM, Francis Roux, departmental councillor, Prix Pierrat, defense advisor for La Londe-les-Maures, numerous local elected officials, military authorities, associations, and families. The Costebelle monument was inaugurated on December 11, 1986, thanks to the extensive research work carried out by the associations of veterans of the Aéronautique navale.
