Toulon, an active and sporting city
In 2024, Toulon received a 4th laurel from the Ville active et sportive label.
This distinction, the highest, rewarded the efforts of the sports policy led by the Municipality, which uses sport as a tool for social integration, public health, education and social cohesion.
390 ASSOCIATIONS
With some 390 sports associations and 369 municipal facilities that it regularly modernises and adapts to new practices, the City promotes and supports the practice of sport on its territory. With its rugby team, a figurehead of high-level sport, the capital of the Var regularly hosts major, unifying sporting events. It is these structures that support the residents of Toulon on a daily basis, whether they are young or senior, amateur or professional, in their practice of sport, that are being honoured during this evening. All of them played a part in obtaining this 4th laurel. This evening was also an opportunity to close a sporting year placed under the banner of Olympism, Toulon having been a stage town for the Relais de la Flamme olympique on May 10th, Toulon's vision for sport is manifested in an integrated strategy that encompasses social cohesion, education, health and economic dynamism. The City's commitment to an environment where sport is accessible to all reflects its desire to promote a more inclusive, educational, healthy and dynamic society. Thus, the municipality is committed to building a future where sport is a right for all and an essential driver of its development. On December 4th, the celebration of obtaining the 4-laurel Ville active et sportive label took place at the Mezzanine du Zénith in the presence of Josée Massi, Mayor of Toulon, Laurent Bonnet, Deputy Mayor delegated to Sport, Health and Well-being, the 4 torchbearers of the Flamme olympique of the Ville de Toulon and the entire sporting community.
