A constrained objective in an environment where technical and economic requirements continue to grow and where competition will become more aggressive as the market tightens.
THE CHALLENGE OF PREVENTION Indeed, upskilling and integrating new technologies are key assets, insists the president of the federation: "We promote CSR, which is becoming more democratic in the sector's companies, which are aware that soon their attractiveness and competitiveness will also be measured by environmental and social performance indicators.
Tonight, the professional medal ceremony to honor employees is part of CSR. Our performance is also measured by our ability to integrate occupational risk prevention and health rules on our construction sites. We still have progress to make, and for this, the rules and especially the priorities must be clearly and reasonably established in our current economic context.
We will work on this with the DDETS du Var, in particular to restore dialogue with the Inspection du Travail in a well-understood logic of progress. The issue of prevention is essential for our sector because all our promotional actions aimed at attracting young people and active people in retraining would be wiped out if working conditions on our sites deteriorated."
On this occasion, Fabien Piersanti recalls the expectations regarding the regulation of good practices on construction sites to establish healthy and fair competition between companies.
"Too many serious situations are not sanctioned against companies with illegal practices, whereas many of our companies are subject to repeated inspections. However, there can be no progress without equity. We therefore have a collective work to carry out with the inspection services to identify areas of progress to explore on our respective sides," stresses the federal president.
SKILLS COMPETITION Companies' performance and competitiveness also and above all depend on the competence of their workforce.
The use of continuous training makes it possible to acquire technical and digital skills, in particular with the emergence of Artificial Intelligence and numerous innovations in the BTP.
At the same time, the federation is continuing and strengthening its actions to promote trades and careers in BTP in order to prepare for the replacement of generations retiring from activity. "Les Coulisses du BTP, the 2024 edition of which was an excellent vintage with more than 800 school students welcomed on 6 construction sites, remains our flagship initiative, and we will continue to visit middle and high schools.
But in 2025, we have an event not to be missed with WorldSkills, the skills competition, formerly known as the Olympiades des métiers, whose national finals will be held in Marseille from October 16 to 18.
Last September, France finished on the podium of the international finals in Lyon. It is thanks to the performance of the BTP team involved in 16 trades that this performance was achieved," rejoices Fabien Piersanti.
Beyond the competition, WorldSkills is a wonderful event that galvanizes competitors and visitors alike. This is why the BTP du Var will mobilize its trade sections, its apprentices, and middle and high school students from Var to participate in this event.
"This is an opportunity to promote our trades that we could not miss, especially as the CFA bâtiment de Toulon – La Garde will continue its rehabilitation project in 2025 for a complete refurbishment by the end of the decade.
I would like to remind you that the CFA travaux publics régional de Maillemort completes our initial training tool," concludes the president of the BTP du Var.
