RESEARCH LABORATORIES The Département, as part of its Enseignement supérieur et Recherche policy, has for many years supported project leaders and participated in funding actors contributing to the development of higher education. The ISEN Méditerranée engineering school develops fields of expertise and excellence that align with the Enseignement Supérieur et Recherche policy voted by the Département. A partnership agreement was thus renewed this year.

In 2024, the authority contributed €255,000, distributed as follows: €120,000 in investment for the ISEN research laboratories, €135,000 in operating costs, including the Projet Silv'IA (€98,000), cybersecurity awareness (€3,000), and a bachelor in cybersecurity (€34,000).

Two research laboratories were therefore inaugurated: the E-santé and Smart Energy research laboratories. The E-santé lab aims to offer innovative scientific approaches in the analysis of health data and the development of connected medical devices. As for the Smart Energy lab, it supports research aimed at providing an energy system that is efficient, cost-effective, sustainable, and secure.

These new facilities support the specializations offered at ISEN Méditerranée to students in their 4th and 5th years of study.

Numerous projects will be developed within these laboratories. PROMOTING INDEPENDENCE "Beyond the financial support we provide for the creation of these laboratories, which enable the training of our students, the Département's goal, under the leadership of President Jean-Louis Masson, is to bring something of departmental interest," explains Laëtitia Quilici, adding: "The primary responsibility of the Département is social welfare, and particularly independence.

We want to involve ISEN teacher-researchers and students to work with caregivers, medical staff, residents... and find technological solutions to promote remaining at home." These solutions could be tested in the inclusive housing created by the Département, such as a connected fork that a team of students is currently working on.

"While some think technology is non-human, we believe on the contrary that it puts the human being back at the heart of our priorities," she concludes.
