Yves Palmieri: 'A safe and ambitious town'

On this occasion, the mayor also recalled projects involving the parc des abeilles and road resurfacing, and confirmed the support of elected officials for economic life.

INVESTING FOR THE FUTURE

"This agenda, which brings our town to life, is also meant to provide opportunities for our shopkeepers. We care about our downtown businesses, which complement our mid-sized supermarkets, and we know they need all our support in terms of events, the blue zone, tax-exempt business signs, nearby population growth, exchanges in the heart of town, and subsidies," explained Yves Palmieri. He added: "We will do even better with the centrality project and additional parking as the market expands. The vitality of a town also lies in its youth, and in La Farlède, we are investing in the future with renovated and state-of-the-art schools." On this subject, the mayor mentioned work towards inclusion, with the IME, the middle school, as well as new leisure activities for young people, the recreation center, the youth center, the daycare, and the future community hall. In economic terms, the elected official praised the boldness of business owners, artisans, self-employed professionals, self-entrepreneurs, and farmers: "Our area is well-stocked and jobs are there thanks to the dynamism of large companies, the sector, and SMEs. The intercommunity and the town hall are by your side. We will continue to improve our roads, our security, and optimize the operation of this economic zone. This is in everyone's interest!"

9 MUNICIPAL POLICE OFFICERS AND 100 CAMERAS

Regarding public safety, Yves Palmieri welcomed the fact that the commune is a safe town thanks to the presence of the gendarmerie brigade and the company of Hyères: "The gendarmes had an extraordinary year of work, with unusual requisitions for the Olympic Games and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of La Farlède, in addition to their usual requisitions and missions. They achieved remarkable results with eroded resources. We are still hoping for the replacement of two non-commissioned officer positions and, while I received cordial responses from the ministry and the prefecture, I have not yet been assured that the opening of the 180 inmate spaces in the SAS would lead to troop reinforcements or a transfer of duties from neighboring brigades. This will be one of my dearest wishes." On the same topic, the mayor spoke of the municipal police: "For 4 years, I have given them a special place, with the allocation of more functional premises, additional recruitment, even though we are waiting for one more municipal police officer. The staff has already increased from 6 to 9 in this service and has laser binoculars and extensive video protection. I thank the Communauté de Communes de la Vallée du Gapeau (CCVG) since we have gone from 10 to 100 cameras. Then, we will equip the future school complex once completed, the new school, and the large parking lot. In my opinion, we must provide the means to investigate, deter delinquency, and reassure. A further step will be taken with the use of the legal part of artificial intelligence. Thank you to my police officers for their dedication and their irreproachable spirit in the service of our town and our citizens for their preventive role and, when necessary, enforcement."

OBTAINING RESOURCES FOR THE PRISON

The mayor also addressed the situation of the growing penitentiary center: "For a little over 20 years, we have had this prison in the commune, on the southeastern border towards La Crau, and except for a few local residents as around each penitentiary center, we can be satisfied that we do not experience any nuisances or worries from it. We know how much prisons contribute to a necessary link in justice and society, and how much we lack them." Yves Palmieri wished to thank the directors of the penitentiary center and, through them, all the officers for the quality of their work in a sector exposed to risks and very numerous issues, with resources more limited than the displayed and yet legitimate political ambitions. I therefore wish you to obtain these resources but also to successfully pursue your missions, which now include the new SAS." Finally, the mayor also congratulated the firefighters for their dedication: "They are guardian angels, ready to intervene at any moment to prevent large-scale disasters in our territory, in missions that are still highly exposed to risk. Well done and thank you to all your men and women of the SDIS du Var in general and of our station in particular. I wish you a calm year and the necessary resources to fully accomplish your missions" (...).
