The Chambre d'agriculture facing many challenges

Supported by the FDSEA and the Jeunes Agriculteurs, he must steer the future of agriculture for the next six years. Sylvain Audemard presented his priorities to many state representatives, including the préfet du Var. During his inauguration speech, the president of the Chambre d'Agriculture insisted on the key areas that will guide his team's actions: "First of all, to support an agriculture adapted to current and future challenges, sector by sector according to their specificities, with the priority of the profitability and resilience of all farms in the Var." He added: "This also involves strengthening health surveillance, to better protect our crops and livestock against diseases, pests, and epidemics. This will be an important axis, developing a policy to diversify production and activities (particularly agritourism) to secure the income of farmers in the Var and offer them new economic opportunities. Another priority is also to secure resources, particularly access to water and agricultural land, which are essential to our profession, and to secure our agricultural territory through effective support for farm transfers. Furthermore, we must develop an agriculture of the future connected to its territory by strengthening the promotion of our local products and their direct sale, as well as by multiplying agricultural development partnerships with local elected officials. Finally, we must also strengthen the competitiveness of major sectors and support the structuring and development of all other sectors that contribute to the wealth of our department."
