The Région Sud, land of national defence
Faced with geopolitical challenges and sovereignty issues, the Région Sud asserts its central role in national defence.
It presents a unique ecosystem, blending military excellence, industrial innovation and strategic cooperation. Also, the Agora Demain le Sud, dedicated to Defence on the theme “War economy, what regional response?”, was a major opportunity to unite forces, encourage businesses and prepare for the future.
“Because tomorrow's security is built today, the Région is committed alongside the State, the armed forces and industrial players to guarantee the country's sovereignty and competitiveness,” declared Renaud Muselier, the President of the Région who participated in the debates in the presence of François de Canson, Benjamin Haddad, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Europe et des Affaires étrangères, in charge of Europe, of Emmanuel Chiva, Délégué général pour l'armement, and of Pierre Éric Pommellet, CEO of Naval Group.
In charge of major risks and attractiveness issues, François de Canson put the challenges into perspective: “The message is simple: The defense economy is a peace economy. The Région is not going to war. It wants to contribute to the national effort for freedom and sovereignty in a shifting world.
This Agora intends to position the Région within this new international reality.”
This event provided an opportunity to discuss this theme with the main players in the sector (Naval Group, Airbus, Dassault, Thales Alenia Space, Exail Robotics, KNDS) as well as the military authorities represented by the Gouverneur Militaire de Marseille, the Armée de l'Air et de l'Espace and the Marine nationale.
