The multi-storey car park, first phase of the Cœur de Ville project

The Cœur de Ville project continues to take shape with the implementation of an essential new infrastructure, namely a multi-storey car park. This ambitious project aims to meet the growing need for city-centre parking while improving accessibility and creating more green spaces. The first phase of the work, which is currently underway, marks an important milestone in this urban transformation. The project continues with the promise of a greener, more accessible, and more pleasant city centre to live in.

FREE PARKING

“The construction site, which covers an area of 8,254 m2, is progressing rapidly. This multi-storey car park will offer 216 free parking spaces, including 11 reserved for electric vehicles, as well as 18 spaces for motorbikes and a dedicated area for bicycles. It will be a practical parking location adapted to new environmental standards, featuring charging stations for electric vehicles,” details the mayor. Near the future urban park, 42 additional spaces will be created, bringing the total to 258 free parking spaces for the Gardéens. “This project responds to a strong demand expressed by residents during the public consultations conducted by the municipality, aiming to improve mobility and preserve a pleasant living environment in the city centre,” the mayor adds. Pending the completion of the work, a temporary 150-space car park has been set up on the site of the Accusano stadium. Since December 13, Gardéens have been able to access it, with an entrance and exit located on avenue Franklin Roosevelt. Pedestrian access points have been opened at avenues Stalingrad (towards the town hall), Jacques Duclos (towards the Plan), and Franklin Roosevelt (towards Paul Langevin). A small parking area of about ten spaces remains accessible at the southern end of the La Poste car park until work begins on the future urban park.”

URBAN PARK

The future urban park, developed just a stone's throw from the Plan de La Garde, will notably provide a breath of fresh air for the town. “It will transform the southern entrance of the municipality into a place of relaxation and leisure for the inhabitants. 266 trees will be planted, a watercourse will run through the park, and numerous leisure areas will be created, including children's playgrounds, an open-air theatre, a climbing wall, as well as a food truck for convivial moments. Planted pedestrian pathways will serve the entire site, as well as the multi-storey car park, its service hub, the Zunino schools, the les Lucioles eco-crèche, and the Place de la République,” details Hélène Arnaud-Bill. This project combining nature and mobility aims to create a harmonious and functional urban environment for the Gardéens. Once completed, the multi-storey car park and the urban park will bring a new dynamic to the heart of the city, facilitating access to the city centre and improving the quality of life for residents. •
