NumériSud donates computers to 50 students of collège Peiresc

This initiative is part of a broader effort as more than 3,000 computers have been donated in less than three years to students in digital precarity within the académie de Nice. This year, François Bonny, president of NumériSud, proposed to Mme Massoni, principal of collège Peiresc, to equip the students of her school. After a survey of families, 50 students were selected to benefit from these computers, which are equipped with 40 educational applications, making them true learning tools. This action was made possible thanks to the association NumériSud, which is celebrating its three years of existence. Founded by François Bonny, Physics teacher and digital referent at collège Jean L’Herminier in La Seyne-sur-Mer, it recovers computers from schools, refurbishes them with the help of teachers and students, and equips them with educational software under Linux, in order to promote the academic success of the students. The president thanked everyone involved in this project, and in particular Jean-Pierre Colin, vice-president of the Région Sud, who has supported the initiative since its launch.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY

On this occasion, he highlighted the importance of this initiative in terms of circular economy: "Giving examples of a circular economy is not always easy. Here, we have a real example. Not only do we have viable computers, but we update them with the help of students and we offer them to the families who need them. In the Académie du Var et des Alpes-Maritimes, 16% of high school students do not have computers at home, and 20% in middle schools. This action, which responds to a social reality, is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Rectorat, school principals, the Région, the Département, as well as private partners including the MAIF. It is a beautiful illustration of solidarity and commitment to the education of all." The donation took place in the presence of the students accompanied by their families.
