Parc national and Université de Toulon, a structured scientific collaboration
Parc national de Port-Cros and Université de Toulon have signed a scientific cooperation agreement.

Parc national de Port-Cros (PNPC) and Université de Toulon (UTLN) have signed a general scientific cooperation agreement, marking a new step in their shared commitment to research and the production of the environment. This partnership aims to strengthen synergies between the Parc national, a natural experimental laboratory, and the Université, a key player in the production of scientific knowledge.
The objective is to promote the carrying out of studies and experiments led by research teams, while facilitating the reception of students and interns within the territory of the Parc national.
The agreement, signed by Sophie-Dorothée Duron, director of the Parc national, and Xavier Leroux, president of the Université de Toulon, defines a cooperation framework for a renewable five-year period. It enables the establishment of a steering committee responsible for supervising and monitoring joint projects, validating studies to be conducted, and guiding research in line with the challenges of the Parc national. It also targets concrete objectives for research and environmental protection.
Thus, the areas of cooperation focus on conducting scientific studies on biodiversity, ecosystem management, and climate change; the mobility and exchange of staff and interns between the two institutions; and the dissemination and promotion of research results through scientific publications and symposia. The coordination of joint calls for projects at regional, national, and European levels with the pooling of human, material, and financial resources. A commitment in service of knowledge and territory management.
This agreement reinforces the scientific anchoring of the Parc national as a reference area and research laboratory. It also contributes to the academic excellence of the Université de Toulon by offering its researchers and students a unique field of study. This collaboration illustrates the shared desire of both institutions to combine science and environmental protection to better understand, preserve, and promote the exceptional ecosystems of Port-Cros and its maritime and terrestrial area.
