Stéphane Rambaud denounces insecurity in Val des Rougières

Barely inaugurated, already vandalized! A few days after its opening, the Bureau d'Information et de Sécurité of Val des Rougières was vandalized, highlighting once again the insecurity that has affected this neighborhood for too long. This provoked the anger of deputy Stéphane Rambaud: "I am deeply outraged by such an unacceptable and scandalous act. After months of tension and shootings, which plague the lives of Hyérois, the rise in drug trafficking and the impunity enjoyed by delinquents, the residents of Val des Rougières deserve to live in a peaceful environment. This neighborhood, like many others, has been abandoned by some of the public authorities. I would like to salute the remarkable work of law enforcement forces in Hyères and offer them my unwavering support. Their presence and commitment are essential." The Var parliamentarian added: "It is urgent to protect this neighborhood and restore order in a lasting way before another tragedy strikes our city. It is my duty, as an elected official, to allow the Hyérois to live in peace. Support for law enforcement and firmer political action are at the heart of my priority. The State can no longer shirk its responsibilities." Already on the very day of the inauguration, a journalist from BFM Var had been threatened by drug traffickers. This had led Philippe Mahé, the Prefect of Var, to react immediately, condemning with the utmost firmness the verbal intimidation against this journalist: "After the inauguration of an information and security office in Val des Rougières, a BFM TV Var journalist who was finishing her report was verbally harassed by individuals who ordered her to leave the neighborhood. I condemn with the utmost firmness this attempt at intimidation, which also constitutes an unacceptable attack on press freedom. The police are mobilized to identify the perpetrators." Yet the establishment of this police station is a strong act of republican reconquest. "This project is part of the continuity of a reinforced presence of internal security forces in the neighborhood and follows several police operations that led to the arrest of the leaders of the trafficking in the estate. For its part, the municipality has carried out work in a room adjacent to the village hall, allowing it to serve both as a meeting point for daily Police nationale-Police municipale patrols and to host municipal information sessions there. At the heart of Val des Rougières, this office is intended to strengthen the link between police and the population for the benefit of the security of the neighborhood's residents," explained the Prefect of Var.
