Often invisible, digital pollution has a significant impact on the planet and represents a major environmental issue. As part of its commitment to sustainable development and ecological transition, illustrated since September 2024 through La Farlède se régénère, the Municipalité is also committed to fighting digital pollution.
RECYCLING OF EQUIPMENT
This initiative, carried out in partnership with several local associations, aimed to raise awareness among citizens and businesses about the ecological impact of digital technology by promoting data cleaning, equipment recycling, and the reuse of devices. Through this action, the Ville wished to mobilize widely to encourage the adoption of more responsible digital practices. Together, let us adopt new habits and regenerate our digital footprint! Three concrete actions were on the program. First, a cleaning phase aimed at reducing the digital footprint. Thus, from March 10 to 15, the Municipalité carried out a major internal cleanup of its servers and databases across all its services to optimize their management and limit their energy consumption. Next, a collection phase with the recycling of electronic equipment. Since Monday, February 24, collection boxes have been made available in municipal buildings to collect used electronic devices. And on March 13, a special dumpster was set up in front of the AFUZI premises to allow businesses to drop off their obsolete equipment, while on March 15, a dumpster was accessible to everyone and installed in front of the Espace de La Capelle for a major citizen collection drive. Finally, a reuse phase to give a second life to the equipment. On March 15, in partnership with Génération 8.3, the Espace de La Capelle hosted a “Numeric’ café,” featuring workshops and conferences on the impact of digital technology. The association “La Vallée du Gapeau en transition” collected working computers to refurbish them and redistribute them to beneficiaries. An operation carried out by the service Informatique in partnership with AFUZI, the Association des professionnels farlédois, Génération 8.3, and Gapordi. Note the presence of SITTOMAT to raise awareness about the recycling and management of digital waste.
