Towards a Smart City, an intelligent and connected town

SMART CITY Thus, the establishment and launch of the Centre de Supervision Urbain (CSU) have been made possible thanks to in-depth work initiated, as of 2024, by the Ville to modernize its network and enable a better connection of equipment, in particular videoprotection cameras with the municipal police station. 'The Ville has indeed committed nearly one million euros to an ambitious project aimed at deploying a dark optical fiber network and creating a Groupe Fermé d'Utilisateurs (G. F.
U)', recalls Thierry Albertini, the mayor.

The mayor adds, 'This very high-speed optical network offers several advantages. First of all, control and sovereignty with improved management of data flows. Then, cost reduction which generates significant savings thanks to the termination of existing internet and VPN subscriptions.'
The system also demonstrates greater reliability thanks to the securing of the videoprotection system by reducing, for example, dependence on radio links.
'This has also led to the extension of the network, making it easy to add new cameras throughout the territory. Finally, the Ville has demonstrated technological anticipation, preparing the network for the transition to IP telephony with the closure of the copper network (R. T. C)', Thierry Albertini continues.
In the medium term, this network will promote the implementation of innovative services for a 'Smart City', such as e-services, e-administration, and the centralized management of public infrastructures. PROACTIVE POLICY Thus, the creation of the CSU is part of a broader strategy, which has already earned La Valette-du-Var several distinctions: The Ville Prudente label (3 hearts) for its commitment to road safety. This rare distinction for a first-time application illustrates the commitment to road safety and making travel safer.
The municipality has also obtained the Résilience France Collectivités label (3 stars) for its actions in terms of prevention and protection of the population.

As such, the Centre de Supervision Urbain plays a central role in this proactive policy. Finally, the Ville has set up a Conseil Local de Sécurité et de Prévention de la Délinquance et de la Radicalisation (CLSPDR) and has recruited a project manager to reinforce this approach, and it carries out regular exercises of the Plan Communal de Sauvegarde (P. C.
S.)
, aimed at anticipating major risks and effectively coordinating interventions in the event of a crisis.
