Follow the Chemin des paysages to rediscover nature!
On April 5, the Ville inaugurated the Chemin des paysages, an ambitious project to showcase the local natural heritage.
On this occasion, the mayor Hélène Arnaud-Bill and Sophie Ourdouillié, deputy for the environment, sustainable development and living environment, went on a guided hike accompanied by an activity leader from the Amicale laïque, hiking section. Designed as a true immersion into the heart of the local landscapes, this free, marked trail, accessible all year round, invites residents and visitors to explore the biodiversity, scenic richness and natural heritage of the cité du Rocher.
EDUCATIONAL TRAILS
"With the Chemin des paysages, we want to reconnect everyone to their environment, by highlighting the beauty of our territory and raising awareness of its preservation," emphasized Sophie Ourdouillié. The Chemin des paysages is also designed to be educational, with informative signs lining the routes to shed light on the fauna, flora, and specific features of the landscapes crossed. Designed for all audiences, they encourage a fun, educational, and environmentally friendly approach. With this project, the Ville confirms its commitment to a sustainable living environment and nature accessible to all, combining leisure, discovery, and awareness.
FIRST TWO ITINERARIES TO DISCOVER:
The project will eventually offer five walking trails, totaling 24 kilometers of paths between the sea, hills, and forest. Two routes are already open, departing from the Noria parking lot, avenue de la Paix.
The Chemin des oliviers, sea view
(4.3 km – 1h) This Provençal trail plunges walkers into the world of wild olive trees, ancient symbols of the Mediterranean rim. Their gnarled trunks and silvery leaves line the path to the Rocher and the Espace nature départemental du Plan, offering a striking panorama.

(5.2 km – 1h15) Through the great loop of Thouars, walkers discover the stone pine, a tree typical of Mediterranean forests. Its dome-like silhouette shelters a rich ecosystem, and for the curious, a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and its islands awaits at the summit. The hikes start from the Noria parking lot, avenue de la Paix.
