Contributing to tourism and cultural promotion
On April 29 at the Toulon Porte d'Italie campus, the PROSA inter-university project, in partnership with Université de Corse, was officially...
For several months, it mobilized twenty-three students around the design of a fun and interactive smartphone application inviting young people to discover the traditions and legendary tales of Provence and Corse. PROSA aims to show how the skills developed within the MMI departments of the IUT de Toulon and IUT de Corse can contribute to the tourist and cultural promotion of the two territories.
DIGITAL PROFESSIONALS
Since the start of the academic year in September 2024, third-year students from the IUT MMI de Toulon and their counterparts from Corse have been aiming to create an immersive augmented reality tale, blending interactive storytelling, heritage, and innovative technologies. The player embodies a character who navigates between Provence and Corse, meeting mythological figures from both cultures along the way. Named PROSA, this innovative project is part of a SAÉ (Learning and Assessment Situations) of the Digital Communication Strategy and Experience Design tracks in Toulon, and Digital Creation in Corte. It mobilizes all the skills acquired by the students during their first two years of training: interactive storytelling, experience design, web development, digital communication, augmented reality, AI integration... Thus, the key 2023 figures for culture and communication highlight the rejuvenation of audiences visiting museums and historical monuments. For instance, in 2022, 14 million young people under the age of 25 were welcomed into the museums of France. The survey also shows a strong appetite for cultural and creative activities (video games, music, online video...). Achievements such as PROSA show that it is possible to combine technology, education, and cultural promotion, while training the digital professionals of tomorrow.
