High school students from Var selected for the national final in Toulouse
On April 24 on the La Garde - La Valette campus, middle and high school students from the académie de Nice competed in a scientific contest...
Following a call for participation launched by the Université de Toulon (UTLN) at the beginning of the school year, the UFR Sciences et Techniques welcomed students from the middle schools Louis Clément (Saint–Mandrier-sur-Mer), Maintenon (Hyères), Frédéric Montenard (Besse-sur-Issole), and Guy de Maupassant (Garéoult), as well as the high schools Raynouard (Brignoles), Jean Aicard (Hyères), and du Coudon (La Garde) as part of the local phase of the national competition "Faites de la science". Already present last year, the lycée Henri Matisse (Vence) returned to the Toulon area to take part in the event.
PASSPORT TO TOULOUSE
The scientific or technological experiments were presented to panels composed of researchers and lecturers from Toulon, representatives of the académie de Nice, and the parc national de Port-Cros. The projects notably addressed scientific gas detection, the spread of contamination or robotics serving ecology, drones, paint pigments... The winners received the prize of the Université de Toulon, a passport to the national final of the competition which will take place on June 7 at the Faculté des Sciences et Techniques of the Université de Toulouse. The award ceremony will be held in the presence of numerous figures from the scientific world. Over the last two years, the students representing the UTLN have won second place in the national competition, with their projects of a balloon powered by a hydrogen fuel cell (2024) and a clean-up underwater robot (2023).
The "Faites de la science" Competition
This event aims to develop students' taste for scientific experimentation by encouraging them to approach subjects with a researcher's mindset, thereby unleashing their initiative.
