An essential prevention campaign
The city hosted the 4th edition of the Bus du Cœur des Femmes, a national initiative to prevent cardiovascular diseases.
Co-founded by Professor Claire Mounier-Véhier, a cardiologist at CHU de Lille, this campaign aims to raise awareness and screen women for cardio-gynecological risks. Since its launch in 2021, the Bus du Cœur des Femmes aims to provide effective screening, train healthcare professionals, and raise public awareness, in order to fight the leading cause of death among women.
This year, 370 women benefited from a screening during the event, which allowed for on-site smear tests to be offered, a much-appreciated new feature. Dr. Stéphanie Guillaume, elected to the Santé, Solidarité et Proximité de la Ville delegation, stressed the importance of this initiative: “We set up a late time slot to allow active women to participate.”
1,500 WOMEN SCREENED The health village, which accompanies the Bus, also attracted 410 children, offering them an initiation to life-saving gestures and advice on healthy living, in collaboration with partner associations. Thus, nearly 1,500 women have been screened over the last 4 editions, with a particular focus on those in situations of social or psychological vulnerability.
The success of this operation relies on the commitment of 190 volunteers and the collaboration of 16 cities, including Six-Fours-les-Plages, which is the second to host the bus after Cannes. Municipalities partner with cardiologists, vascular physicians, and gynecologists to offer quality care.
For its part, the Caisse Primaire d'Assurance Maladie (CPAM) has committed to directing patients to available healthcare professionals. The two-hour care pathway allowed participants to benefit from a complete check-up.
Feedback from the women who participated in the event has been very positive. Many expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to take care of themselves and to be listened to.
The Bus du Cœur des Femmes is not limited to simple screening. It is an awareness and prevention movement, supported by the Fondation Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière, the Assurance Maladie, and the ministère de la Santé et de l'Accès aux soins.
This day was a true celebration of the heart, with conferences, physical activities, and sophrology sessions, reinforcing the importance of cardiovascular health among women.
