An awareness action for a cleaner coastline
In May, several local actors mobilized to raise awareness about waste management, through an educational and civic approach.

Thus, the association "On sème pour demain", in partnership with ODEL Var, the Conseil Municipal des Enfants (CME) and with the support of "Chercheurs en herbe", conducted two operations aimed at children. These actions took place in a spirit of raising awareness about environmental issues, particularly around the issue of abandoned waste in natural environments. On the ground, participants took the path down to the plage du Monaco, scanning the surroundings in search of litter. They were surprised because they found very little bulky waste, an encouraging sign of a preserved area. However, a worrying observation tempered this optimism, as they noted a high presence of cigarette butts. Persistent and polluting, this waste points to a commonplace habit that must be stopped, as it has a lasting impact on the environment. Furthermore, since July 1st, throwing a cigarette butt on the beach can result in a fine of €135. Beyond the cleanup, these mornings were an opportunity to discuss correct behaviors, understand the consequences of littering, and strengthen the ecological awareness of younger generations. This allows combining concrete action and education, while strengthening the link between children, associations, and local institutions.
