It has been reinforced since 2021 as part of the regional Plan Climat. €34 million has been mobilized since 2018 for the implementation of this plan at the regional level, supporting forests, local authorities, and prevention and firefighting stakeholders. In 2025, the Région is dedicating a budget of €1.76 million to the Garde Régionale Forestière.

FLAGSHIP ACTION

La « Guerre du Feu », un plan régional ambitieux

The Garde Régionale Forestière (GRF) is a flagship action of the "Guerre du Feu" regional plan. The rangers are recruited by regional natural parks, national parks, or forest area managers, and operate until September 15. It has three main missions: Raise public awareness about fire prevention, support forest area surveillance, and spread a culture of risk awareness among residents and visitors. This year, the Parc national des Écrins is joining the scheme, bringing the number of partner structures to 22. The GRF are thus present in all these territories: Pays des Sorgues Monts de Vaucluse, Grand site Sainte-Victoire, Parc Naturel Régional (PNR) du Luberon, Camargue, Alpilles, Sainte- Baume, Verdon, Préalpes d’Azur, Ventoux, Baronnies, Queyras, Parc National (PN) de Port-Cros, Parc National (PN) des Calanques, Communauté de Commune (CC) des Maures, Allauch, Le Bataillon de Marins-Pompiers de Marseille – Ville de Marseille, Roquebrune-sur- Argens, massif de l’Estérel, CC Alpes d’Azur (Gorges de Daluis), Parc National (PN) du Mercantour, Organisme National des Forêts – Îles de Lérins, and Parc National (PN) des Écrins. •
