Le Souvenir Français strengthens intergenerational ties

It engages with the younger generation through multiple educational interventions. Recently, the association collaborated with the Service Réserve Jeunesse as part of the Service National Universel to lead the theme "Defense and Memory". It also organized a memorial walk to discover the fortification of Mauvanne, which is part of the "paths of memory" route.

To the great satisfaction of its general delegate, the association now has 3,000 members, representing a 100% increase among the younger generation compared to the previous year. At the departmental level, it brings together 54 committees and 30 local sections, thus covering the 153 municipalities of the Var.

More than 900 graves and 55 monuments are maintained by the association.

EDUCATIONAL TRIPS In 2024, more than 14,500 children benefited from educational trips, exhibitions, testimonies, lectures, and ceremonies organized by the committees of Le Souvenir Français. These actions are supported by sponsors and institutional partners.

Created in 1887, the main objective of the association is to preserve the memory of those who died for France. Members maintain graves and memorial monuments, including abandoned or non-perpetual graves. The duty of remembrance also extends to the restoration of headstones and commemorative plaques.

Each section or committee plays an essential educational role for the younger generation, explaining the meaning of sacrifice and commitment to the Nation. The association trains young people in the role of flag-bearer, thus ensuring a notable presence during commemorations.
