Meeting with Vincent Dujarric de Lagarde
Vincent Dujarric de Lagarde, general delegate of the Souvenir Français for the Var, shadowed his predecessor for over a year before taking office.
He has relaunched the census of the graves of "Morts pour la France" in the cemeteries of the Var.
The association also welcomed young people on a Mission d'Intérêt Général, phase 2 of the Service National Universel.
What is your roadmap for this year? Vincent DUJARRIC. We worked on receiving two young Polynesian girls for the 80th anniversary of the Landings last August, sent by my counterpart in Tahiti, including a descendant of a "Mort pour la France" who landed in Cavalaire and is buried at the Nécropole nationale de Boulouris.
The focus is now on educational interventions in schools.
A partnership with the Rectorat d'académie de Toulon is currently being developed. The association is also working to strengthen its presence in the Army corps managing the Cadets de la Défense.
How did your memorial getaway go? VD. The idea of an intergenerational march in the footsteps of the liberators of the city of Hyères was transformed into an event named "Du Golf Hôtel à Mauvanne".
More than 30 high school students from Hyères, accompanied by their history teachers, took part in this march, with educational stops at the start and finish. This initiative was made possible thanks to collaboration with the lycées Costebelle and Jean Aicard, as well as help from the Police municipale, the Gendarmerie départementale, and the town hall.
What are your next actions? VD. The association continues to encourage young volunteers to actively participate in ceremonies and to carry the flags.
It also seeks to attract a younger population and their teachers.
The flame of the Mémoire combattante, embodied by youth, has a promising future.
