The association Histoire et Patrimoine de la Gendarmerie honored for its work of remembrance

ESSENTIAL ROLE

For 18 years, the association Histoire et Patrimoine de la Gendarmerie (ACSPMG) has been dedicated to keeping the history of the gendarmerie alive, and more particularly that of the Var, through conferences, participation in commemorations, the collection of objects and archives, and numerous exhibitions, often labeled at the national level, and linked to the theme of the life of the gendarmerie. Thus, the association presented its work during the centenary of the Great War and highlighted the action of the gendarmerie of the Var in the resistance and the Débarquement de Provence. Thanks to strong partnerships with institutions and memorial associations, ACSPMG plays an essential role in transmitting collective memory, especially to the younger generation. In the field, it carries out joint actions with the Souvenir Français du Var (national delegation and local committees) and sustains this essential intergenerational link. The finest example is the commitment of Ethan, a gendarmerie cadet who, during this July 14, carried the association's flag. With great emotion, Nicolas Moulin received the City's medal on behalf of the bureau members (Daniel Baert, Alain Maurin and Joël Sicard). On this occasion, the president expressed his pride in seeing how the association had evolved in nearly twenty years: "Starting from scratch in 2007, I welcome the progress made by our association. I am proud to see that our action, sustained over the long term, is recognized. This distinction belongs to all those who accompany and support us, without forgetting, of course, the members of our bureau." Indeed, this distinction marks a symbolic milestone in the life of the association, which is already looking ahead to 2026 and beyond. Nicolas Moulin further added: "In the coming months, we will continue to enrich our heritage collections, highlighting the Varois heritage linked to the presence of the Maréchaussée and the Gendarmerie in the Var. We will continue our partnership with the Éducation nationale and schools, and we will strengthen memory work." "In short, ACSPMG will confirm its commitment to history and heritage, by paying tribute to those who, in the shadows, work so that the past enlightens the future," concluded the association's president.

The ceremony took place alongside the national holiday commemoration, in the presence of local elected officials, members of cultural and memorial associations, civil and military authorities, as well as former gendarmes.
