National defense This agreement strengthens the strategic alliance between the State and the Region around defense, innovation, industry and sovereignty. It is in line with the regional Plan "Sud Défense", at the heart of the Region's priorities. "This agreement reflects a desire to work together, State and Region, to strengthen our defense, support our companies and better support the women and men committed to our security.

We have a clear vision: that of a territory that invests to meet the geopolitical and security challenges of today and tomorrow," declared Renaud Muselier.

This signing is based on the regional Plan "Sud Défense", launched in June 2025, which already mobilizes concrete resources to structure the sector, finance strategic companies and train for the skills of tomorrow. • PLEASE NOTE... The agreement between the ministère des Armées and the Region includes the following 4 priorities: • Support the armed forces and improve the living conditions of military personnel and their families, especially young people; • Accompany defense companies and strengthen their resilience, within the framework of the defense economy; • Experiment and innovate in defense and dual-use economy, support major projects of common interest and strengthen regional influence and attractiveness; • Accompany the armed forces in the ecological transition, in connection with the objectives of the Plan climat régional.

The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region, 1st military region of France: • €6 billion for defense training in the Sud region; • 47,800 personnel from the ministère des Armées; • 99,000 people with their families; • 220,000 veterans; • Leading naval base of Europe and the Mediterranean in Toulon; • Three air bases: Istres, Salon-de-Provence, Orange; • Largest training camp in Europe in Canjuers; • An exceptional academic and industrial presence, with Airbus Helicopters, Naval Group and Thales.
