An awareness campaign on the prevention of sun risks
The City is taking action for sun prevention at the municipal swimming pool.

While summer is in full swing and temperatures are rising, the municipality is not forgetting the essentials: protecting its inhabitants from the dangers of the sun. On July 9, the municipal swimming pool hosted an awareness campaign on the prevention of sun risks, organized as part of the Contrat Local de Santé. Supported by the Municipalité, in partnership with the CCAS, the ARS PACA and the Département, this initiative aimed to inform the public about the dangers associated with prolonged exposure to UV rays, particularly in our very sunny region.
DANGERS OF THE SUN

“The sun is beneficial for morale and health, but it can also be a real enemy if it is not tamed,” recalled Hélène Arnaud-Bill, mayor of La Garde. Premature skin aging, eye disorders, increased risk of skin cancer... The effects of excessive exposure are very real. To reach a wide audience, the event relied on a fun and educational approach. Families were able to take part in a quiz, have fun with interactive games, and leave with activity books specially designed for children. The objective: to learn how to protect oneself while having fun, and to pass on the right habits from an early age. Sunscreen, a hat, glasses, covering clothes, and breaks in the shade are all habits to adopt to enjoy the sun safely.
