Florence Gillot, a painter with a unique sensitivity

After spending 20 years in her native region, she decided to settle in the Var at the age of 21, a choice motivated by unforgettable childhood memories spent on holiday with her parents. "Those were the best moments of my life, when I enjoyed freedom," says Florence Gillot.

A rich journey

Before devoting herself fully to painting, Florence experimented with various odd jobs, notably in catering. After obtaining her Baccalauréat, she worked for seven years in different sectors before training as a pharmaceutical representative, a profession she has practiced for 24 years in respiratory assistance.

"Talents de femmes"

Art has always been a part of her life. "Ever since I was little, I always had a pencil in my hand," she recalls. Although no one in her family is an artist, Florence Gillot has always felt the need to draw. She started giving her creations, small drawings and paintings, to her loved ones. It was only eight years ago that she decided to improve her skills by taking painting classes in Toulon, where she discovered a true passion for different artistic techniques. Her first exhibition took place in 2024 at "Talents de femmes" in La Garde, where she was selected with pride. "It was something huge, I would never have imagined that I could be selected," confides this artist. Since then, she has exhibited varied works, inspired by the landscapes of the Var, the sea, nature... Florence uses various mediums, such as soft pastel, charcoal, oil paint, and Posca, which she combines to create unique graphic works. For her, each canvas represents a challenge and a new piece of work, always born from a deep emotion. Art provides her with a moment of meditation, a space where she can focus fully. "It's the only time I don't think about anything," she explains. She devotes her evenings to painting, getting up early to enjoy every creative moment. Currently, she is inspired by Edward Hopper, touched by the melancholy emanating from his works. Florence Gillot has continued to exhibit her works; you could discover her canvases during her last exhibition in Bormes-les-Mimosas, which was held from July 19 to August 7 in the Maison des Artistes. With an overflowing passion and a constant desire to evolve, Florence Gillot is an artist to watch closely. •
