Having worked for 42 years as a hospital doctor, within the Centre Hospitalier de Hyères, as a rheumatologist and geriatrician, he is launching himself, at retirement age, into the race for mayor of Hyères. MANY LINKS WITH THE POPULATION "After several years spent in the municipal opposition tirelessly defending the interests of the residents, I have officialized my candidacy for the municipal elections of March 2026, following an endorsement granted by the Rassemblement National."
"For various reasons, the hospital administration did not wish to grant me an exceptional extension of activity beyond the legal date of my retirement. I was therefore forced by the centre national de gestion des praticiens hospitaliers to cease my activities in March 2025." However, these decades of medical practice have allowed him to build bonds with many residents and to understand their daily concerns.
Indeed, those who know him know that he practiced his profession with rigour, humanity, and in a spirit of public service. "This allowed me to forge a strong bond with thousands of residents of Hyères, to support all generations and to share daily the human, social and economic realities of our territory." Substitute to Stéphane Rambaud, deputy of the 3ème circonscription du Var, Jean-Michel Eynard-Tomatis has been an elected opposition municipal councillor since 2014, faithful to his convictions, to the concerns of the Hyérois and to the general interest.
"During all these years, I have observed, denounced, supported or alerted whenever it was necessary, keeping one line: that of listening, common sense, and duty. For I am for the promotion of excellence, for the sense of transmission and authority, for the defense of freedom and the primacy of the person, for the rejection of communitarianism and administrative honesty." As a municipal councillor, he has acquired an in-depth knowledge of the inner workings, actions and decisions of the municipality and sometimes even its dysfunctions.
DELETERIOUS STAGNATION He explains his approach: "Our town deserves not to fall, as some fear, into a deleterious stagnation.
It deserves, of course, a strong and determined action, to further improve security in all neighbourhoods. It deserves, of course, unfailing support for our police municipale, by increasing its staff if possible, reinforcing its equipment, developing proximity on the ground, and further modernizing our video surveillance system. It deserves the continued enhancement of its natural and rural spaces, its biodiversity and your living environment.
It deserves, if I believe the recent positions taken by various parties, that we better control the city's urbanization policy, which some simplify as concretisation. It deserves, of course, a revitalized town centre, actively supported local trade, the preservation of its heritage, the continuation of its tourist attractiveness. It deserves a strengthening of the link between the municipality and its inhabitants, through the continued development of accessible and effective local public services."

Because our city, beautiful and fragile, is today at a crossroads: • It suffers from political stagnation, a lack of vision for the future. • It faces uncontrolled concretisation that threatens its identity and balance. • It suffers from growing insecurity, recurring incivilities, a feeling of abandonment in certain neighbourhoods.
• It sees its healthcare services deteriorate, its health professionals leaving or refusing to settle here. • It notes the gradual death of its town centre, with shops closing, a local fabric becoming fragile. • It witnesses a growing detachment between elected officials and residents, a frozen local democracy.
I do not want to content myself with criticizing.
I want to propose, act and gather around a common-sense project, carried by a competent, representative team, entirely devoted to Hyères.
