In August, the gendarmerie recruitment service finalized its summer tour with a symbolic stop in Saint-Tropez, on the square of the famous Musée de la Gendarmerie et du Cinéma. At each stop, adjudant Nicolas Moulin, deputy to the head of the Service Réserve Jeunesse of the gendarmerie grouping of Var, and recruitment coordinator, presented the various careers, from voluntary deputy gendarme to officer, including non-commissioned officer positions, without forgetting the opportunities offered by the operational reserve and the possibility of joining the Cadets de la gendarmerie as part of phase 2 of the Service National Universel (SNU). QR CODE In order to address a wide and connected public, the information point innovated with a mobile application and an interactive QR Code.

“Thus, visitors can access job descriptions, registration procedures, competitive exams, or submit their application directly online (...) It is a modern communication tool. Who today does not have their application via a QR Code?”

“The object, made in 3D, catches the eye and sometimes raises questions. It even gives ideas to our partners. It is an original approach,” assures Nicolas Moulin.

He adds: “My presence is not limited to presenting the QR Code application with the teams. We sometimes set up a basic technical police workshop in which the public participates, and we present videos of the different specialties of the gendarmerie.”

“During the many trips (La Valette-du-Var, Barjols, Les rives du lac de Sainte-Croix et du Verdon, Aups, Hyères, Cuers, Collobrières, Le Lavandou, La Londe-les-Maures), many young people, families, and holidaymakers came to meet the gendarmes for information (...) Var, with its 153 municipalities, is a beautiful département. Each setup of an Info point is always exciting and, as I say every time at the risk of repeating myself, our DNA is meeting and being close to the population,” concludes adjudant Moulin.

VOCATIONS For some, it was an opportunity to discover unsuspected professional prospects, and for others, a first step toward a vocation already well established. The closing of this summer tour in Saint-Tropez, a high place in the history and image of the gendarmerie (in reference to adjudant Gerber and chef Cruchot), gave a symbolic dimension to this operation. Beyond recruitment, the approach also aimed to strengthen the close bond between the gendarmes and the Varoise population.

Of course, adjudant Nicolas Moulin did not escape the numerous photo requests from tourists in front of the former Tropézienne gendarmerie. Finally, the regular office hours of the information and recruitment point resumed in September in the municipalities of the département.
